Description and outcomes
The Three-Day Ideation Workshop on “From Idea to Prototype: Fusion 360 and 3D Printing” is designed to foster creativity, innovation, and hands-on product development skills among students and aspiring innovators. The workshop provides a structured platform for participants to transform their innovative ideas into functional prototypes through 3D design, CAD modelling, and additive manufacturing.
The programme will introduce participants to the fundamentals of ideation, product conceptualization, computer-aided design (CAD), and 3D modelling using Autodesk Fusion 360. Participants will learn to develop their ideas into digital models, refine product designs, and prepare them for 3D printing. Practical demonstrations and hands-on sessions will enable participants to gain experience in designing and prototyping real-world solutions.
The workshop will cover the complete idea-to-prototype workflow, including problem identification, concept generation, design development, 3D modelling, design validation, slicing, and 3D printing. Participants will also be encouraged to apply design thinking and iterative prototyping approaches to improve the functionality and feasibility of their concepts.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to conceptualize an innovative solution, develop a 3D model using Fusion 360, and convert the digital design into a physical prototype using 3D printing technologies. The programme aims to promote an innovation-driven mindset and encourage students to pursue further development of their ideas towards entrepreneurship, research, and product development.
Key outcomes
Students will be able to identify design problems develop creative product concepts, create 3D CAD models using Fusion 360.
